I would never bet against Amaro making a deal, but I think by and large we’re in a “what you see is what you got” place with the Phillies. If you had to identify one area of need though, it’s a right handed corner outfielder that can hit for some power. I can’t imagine they’re going to go get someone who’s a game changer. Spike: Assuming that Madson and Contreras come back healthy eventually, it’s got to be a right handed bat. Q: What is the Phillies’ biggest need as we approach the trade-deadline? I think that makes it all less fun though. Eliminate the need for a player for every team.Starters have to pitch for real (as they would any other game no “two innings for the starter” stuff). No fan voting (players, coaches, media). If they are going to make the game count (which I disagree with anyway), then I feel like there are many more things that need to change aside from fan voting. Either the game has to be important, or it has to be the fans’ game. If you try to be everything to everyone, you’re nothing to anyone. Spike: No, I think it’s got to be one or the other. Q: Do you believe in the current system of fan-voting for the All-Star game, given it’s importance for World Series home-advantage? Would anyone have guessed that Bastardo’s name would be brought up as a possible All-Star snub this year? It’s tough to predict a guy will be so good that batters would barely be hitting. I don’t think anyone imagined he’d be this effective though. I think everyone was aware that the guy had great stuff, and if he put it all together he’d be effective. Q: Who has surprised you the most so far in the 2011 season? I wish his batting stance didn’t look different every day, but I’m sure there’s someone who knows more about hitting than I do helping him out with that. I think we’ve seen enough flashes of what we expected to be encouraged. Even the best rookies, I mean, even the best players have great months and terrible months. When you have a player as young as Brown, there will be peaks and valleys and a learning curve to be expected. It hasn’t been an incredible success or a disaster. Have their expectations filled or unfilled. Spike: Well, I don’t think anyone judging Dom Brown should Q: Has Domonic Brown’s performance so far filled your expectations of him? He better hope he has some more in the Hawks' next game if he doesn't want this to officially become A Thing. As the first-half of the 2011 season is about to come to an end, Spike Eskin of 94WYSP shares with us his current views of the team: Rod Lakin, the program director for Arizona Sports 98. Millsap only had four points - 1/8th of JoJo's Friday scoring output - last night in a blowout loss to the Wizards. Published 94.1 WIP had to travel more than 2,300 miles to find a replacement for Spike Eskin. But its general absurdity makes it inherently toothless and therefore all in good fun - again, if you can't be stupid about All-Star Weekend, when can you be stupid in this NBA season? And deep down, we know how preposterous it is to point out his lack of SportsCenter-worthy jams in favor of Joel's endless sizzle-reel, and to point to him as some sort of Establishment figure keeping The Process down. Of course, Sixers fans know who Millsap actually is - he was either the best or second-best player on a 60-win team just a couple seasons ago, and we've heard about how underrated he is for so long you'd think he was starring in The Americans. #WhoIsPaulMillsap /Bbdv9pi1PP- drew January 28, 2017 32 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks, 28 mins, 4-6 from 3. ![]()
